New Repertory Theater in Watertown, MA has small auditoria for local theater productions. Parking is free in an adjacent garage and travel is easy by car from most areas north of Boston. The theater in which we sat had no bad seats; even at the very top sound and sight were good.We saw "The King of Second Avenue," a silly, muddled production full of stereotypes, caricatures and broad comedy that had little wit, insight or character development. The lead actor seemed to be distracted, perhaps hoping that he were in another production, and presented his lines in an off-handed manner. The rest of the cast played with enthusiasm with the little material available to them. Music was standard klezmer but the small band was terrific. We hope to return for a more intelligent production.

First, the New Repertory space is wonderful - no seat is very far from the stage. I know it's been several years since they moved from Newton, but I hadn't been. Although their 2013-14 season sounded a little "politically correct" (Camelot, Madoff, Civil War), the productions have garnered attention and some good reviews. The actors were first rate, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Arsenal Center for the Arts, which houses New Rep, has artworks in various media throughout, which makes intermission all the more interesting. There is also a gift shop selling local artisan creations such as scarves, cards, bags, mobiles, etc.

The acting was first rate along with a set which contributed to a memorable performance. This play about the post civil war era is quite thought provoking.

We are long-time season subscribers. They offer a mix of "old favorites" like Camelot or Sweeney Todd along with new plays that we might not have chosen to see but usually enjoy. Top caliber actors. Comfortable seating. Near-by free garage parking.

Attended two recent plays, Elephant Man and Rancho Mirage. We thoroughly enjoyed the former but the acting and story line in Rancho Mirage (debuting nationally) was stiff and shrill at times, and often unbelievable. Some of the lines were even predictable. With all the repertory offerings around Boston and Cambridge, here's hoping the Rancho Mirage was an exception.

This is a great theater. Most of the seats have excellent viewing and hearing. All of the plays are top shelf both in acting and production. My wife and I have been subscribers for nearly 10 years.

Easy to get to, easy parking, next to Pedro's and Panera. Have seen good music and plays there. Community theater space worth supporting.

New Rep is a beautiful space. They put on fantastic productions. They also do awesome work in the community. Every year they bring a free show, sponsored by corporate funding, to the high school where I teach. I've been to kids birthday parties here, to see documentaries, and to live theatre. An awesome gem of the arts for the Waterown Community.

I discovered this little theater this past season at the Arsenal Arts Center and have been to two productions, one of The Kite Runner and the other David Mamet's Race. I enjoyed both of them thoroughly. The ticket prices are reasonable and the choice of material intriguing.

Fabulous theater, thought-provoking performances, free parking, nearby cafes and restaurants, great gift shop. I just can't get enough of the New Rep.
