i was here with my church. There are 3 picnic tables, you can see the river but not really access it as we saw a sign; anyways the shore is marshy so we stayed in the trails and enjoyed the open scenery that included pastures. One of the church sisters found dandelion and she took some to make a salad. The trails were easy so people of all ages can enjoy them. They also have a community garden. Parking is available and is free. An easy drive from fall river to escape the city.
Trustees of the Reservation and Town of Westport have made this open space available. The historic house is being renovated and there is a community garden. Lovely quiet spot and great for dog walking.
The Trustees of Reservations has resuscitated this property, so that it is a great way to wander down to the river, or land your canoe.
The location is amazing and the area is pristine. A lovely walk and later go into town and visit the local market Lees. Have Lunch at Bittersweet Farms, which is delightful. Also, visit one of the many beaches and enjoy the AMAZING view of the Westport River as you pass over the Fontaine Bridge. May I suggest a cocktail at the Back Eddy at Sunset... you will not be disappointed. There are many farmstands where you can aquire fress vegetables such as the Corn Crib. Ice cream is a popular destination, Woods Farm, Handy Hill Dairy, and the Head Store located on the Westport River, is always a special treat for children. They all have a different atmosphere where you can take in the landscape as you enjoy your icy treat.. I advise you to look them up and determine your preference.
