There are some nice trails with plenty to see. The staff in the house are great and they host lots of planned activities.
Broad Meadow Brook is a wildlife sanctuary run by Mass Audubon. It is a place I visit a few times a year. There is a visitor's center with a few displays, and where numerous programs are held, and a gift shop as well. Also, there is a wildflower garden a small artificial pond and numerous trails that go through woods, wetlands and a strip of meadow where powerlines run through. The trails are well kept. Maps are available either in the visitor's center or in kiosks outside.I have found that the best places to see wildlife are usually along the Troiano and Powerline trails. There are also play areas for young children as well. There is a small fee, but members can hike for free.
it was a vey informative about how birds eat, how they build their nest, and which kinds we have here in every seasons.as well other animals.
a quiet jewel in the city...great walking trails ...you can take a short stroll or move on to the blackstone river walkway. also, have programs for children & an area for meetings of all kinds.....verytranquil
went here today with a few friends and our children. Facilities indoors are very nice. person working the visitor center was also very friendly. Walked on the main trail, although we had to turn around due to the terrain was not stroller friendly after about half a mile. We were informed of this at the start but chose to do part way anyways. Next time we will not have the strollers in tow and be able to walk further. Kids played in the grass outside the visitor center next to the pavilion and had a great time. Bring sturdy shoes and bug spray- mosquitos were biting but we were prepared. the grounds are very well maintained, cant wait to go back in the fall when the leaves are changing. FYI it is $4/adult to use the trails.
if you like being outdoors, what kind of animals you might be able to find, this is a good place to go. last time I was here saw a big pack of birds just doing their thing, fly very low over head. bring your walking shoes there are a lot of different trails so make sure you grab a map they have available when you arrive so you don't get lost. there are some big uphill paths.
BMB is a sanctuary run by Mass Audubon. It has an extensive trail system as well as a visitor center. They often host school programs. The trail system is really worth a few or several visits, as it is quite beautiful. Free to Audubon members, I think there is a nominal charge for non members. if you go on a nice summer day, bring a picnic as there is no decent place to eat out there other than chain restaurants on route 20 nearby.
Nice place for a hike. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed.
