Loved to take my toddler for Saturday matinee shows/play dates. The parking next door is free in the weekends which is a plus!
This is one of the most creative and entertaining children's theaters that I've ever frequented. Take your kid or a grandkid or a neighbor's kid. You will not be disappointed.
We went to the afternoon performance of the BFG. The theatre is nice and the show is very well done. We had lunch before the show and there were many great restaurant options in the area as well.
I am so happy to live in an area with such a wide range of activities and entertainment for kids. I have taken my kids (age 8 and 7) to 3 performances and have always been impressed by the caliber of the acting, the beautiful and creative costumes, and the music. The one area for improvement that I would suggest is to improve the hearing aid "T-coil loop." My son with hearing loss really enjoys shows but we haven't been able to figure out how to use the T-coil with this system (also, the headsets that are provided for children with hearing loss don't function well). We have begun to take advantage of the ASL-interpreted shows, and the interpreters are amazing.
My son and I have attended many plays at Imagination Stage and have enjoyed every one. He is 11 now, outside the suggested age range, but he loves theater and still enjoys the shows very much. We pay attention to the entire experience, included the incredibly creative costuming, the music, the lines of dialogue and small gestures geared to older kids/adults, etc. We are continually amazed at the quality of the shows. We just saw The BFG and absolutely loved it. That's a show I would gladly see again because it was so well done. If we lived closer (we live in Northern Virginia), I would consider having my son take classes or camps here, but it's too far for that. But for a weekend show, it's wonderful, especially with the nearby parking garage being free on Sundays! We also love the gift shop! We haven't eaten at the cafe often - it's a bit high-priced for what you get - but there are plenty of restaurants nearby if we want to eat before or after a show.
This children's theatre is nothing short of awesome. There is no such thing as a bad seat. Parking was easy. The performance was marvelous. The kiddos are thrilled each and every show.
The whole Imagination Stage experience is so excellent, so well done, so needed and really worthwhile to visit, to support, to recommend. Performances I have seen there over the years were all just brilliantly delivered and totally enjoyable.
Childrens theater is thriving in Montgomery County and this is one of the best. The kids always love it. Well worth the trip.
This is a children's theater with great programming from toddlers to pre-teens. Parking is easy next door. Most shows are great with a few mishaps here and there. I love their little gift shop full of costumes. Overall, a very enjoyable experience for children and parents alike!
We have been to Imagination Stage twice before. This is wonderful theatre for very young children full of intrigue to stretch their imagination. My grandson is enraptured by the performance especially those parts when the children are invited to participate. The actors are so professional in reaching out to the children. I recommend families to visit and enjoy this piece of theatre.
We love Imagination Stage. My daughter and I used to get season tickets to their performance season and make a point of reading the book together in advance of the play. It is a great mother-daughter treat. Then my son joined us as he got older. The plays are outstanding, the actors are professionals and it is wonderful exposure to the arts. We're so lucky to have them here in Bethesda. And best of all, the prices aren't outrageous (yet!)
Whether you are seeing a play or taking your child to acting, singing or dance class - Imagination Stage is a fabulous place with very good instructors. Always have had a wonderful experience!
What a great place to take kids. From performances to food imagination stage has it covered. The only caveat is whether they will be sold out or not but a wonderful place.
We often take our grandchildren. They do a great job! We recently saw Peter Pan. We especially like that the actors come out and talk to the kids
The performances are aimed at 4-10 year olds. Several small performance space, and the kids are quite close to the action. The actors often come out to meet the audience afterwards.
