I normally don't write reviews. I believe this review is necessary so patrons can beware. My husband and I attended the club on Valentine's day 2015. We had dinner in lobby prior to the show and my credit card was overcharged by approximately $19.00. Unable to speak with the manager, I left several messages for different managers. None of them have reached out to voice my concerns. I am very dissatisfied with the terrible service provided by Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club.
When the rest of the town appears sterile and old fashioned, here comes a Bethesda trailblazer, an enjoyable laidback venue for jazz and blues. Well this club brings the New York in town. First time here for the Bobby Caldwell concert, I'm impressed despite the freight from early warnings from the reviews here in TA. The food was suprisingly delicious. My lamb was indeed yummy, tender and perfectly cooked the way I wanted it- medium rare. And so was the rest of the dishes on the table- steak, chicken and pasta. Of course their is room for improvement on the service. Our waiter was timid but hey so was I when I was a kid. I would return anytime for my favorite artist. Please invite once in a while a chanteuse paalease. Does not have to be a belter like Diane Schuur but possibly the likes of Emilie Claire Barlow or Stacey Kent.
It was great to visit this recently refurbished club in Bethesda centre. It's located in a lovely art deco building. The reason I was here was Chad Mitchell Trio's final mainland performance on Saturday November 15, 2014. Also sharing in the celebration of this legendary trio were Tom Paxton, Side by Side and the Gaslight Singers. The event was organized by WFMA, which translates to World Folk Music Association. As a European, I'm somewhat sceptical about the validity of the World in its name. As you enter the club, you find yourself in the bar area with the concert room behind the bar. The concert room has around 50 tables for dining guests in front of the stage and theatre seats at the back and closest to the bar. The club ran a system for ordering snacks and drinks to your seat, which I didn't bother to try. Being seated in the theatre seat that I was (by the stairs), it was as easy to go to the bar and order directly. From what I've read, the club takes 500 guests and I'm sure many artists will find their way to Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club in the near future.
This theater is absolutely fabulous. The meals are excellent. The comedy is great. Joe Claire does an outstanding job. He brings the best comedians. You just can't go wrong when choosing to spend the evening here!!
Great theater and wonderful venue to see jazz and blues entertainers. The supper club has a limited menu but our selection of steak, grouper and lamb was delicious! We will definitely be back!
I've been to the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club several times over the past few months. Every time the food and entertainment has been outstanding. Great sound systems and beautiful interior. It pays to go early as later seating puts you in the "kitchen crush" and you might get your dinner after the show begins. Overall though, this club is a welcome and needed addition to the DC area music and club scene.
Having past this numerous times we decided to do something different with friends. We were amazed at how great the place is, lovely Decor and staff and the Soul Serenaders were brilliant.Obviously patronised by regulars and established dancers, we did brave the floor but also enjoyed watching some talented dancers.Cocktails potent and well presented. Water glasses filled regularly. We had a full meal and this is costly esp. as the food was not great and only luke warm. I had researched and the Crab Cakes had good reviews, so I thought I was on a roll when the others ordered meat, I was wrong. They were cold, sloppy and I only ate half of one. I also had to query my Desert order and they did in the end agree, ice cream was included. I would not have worried, but the actual desert described as Berry pudding had at most 4 berries and lots of synthetic cream. Caeser Salad ok.We will certainly go again but doubt would stick with Salad and a glass of wine.
We enjoyed a superb meal plus great music, and were part of the happy crowd on the dance floor dancing to the Blue Notes. THis place is a gem! We'll be back for sure during the year!
