What do you want to know about this destination? If the info is not on the rack, the staff members can regale you with details. If you want more, be sure to step into the video room.
Frederick has a very good Visitor Center. Alas, to find it you need to either be a local or have a good guide. There are good people, maps, even some displays. But it is outside the tourist area, and not by any of the main entry roads. Find the bus station and you are there - or it is close to the Marc but no one comes to town that way.
Free parking and information. Great place to make a pit stop. Knowledgeable about trains to DC area too. Extremely helpful staff. All the information you could need.
Whether you are from out of town or a local, the Visitor Center can assist you with all the ongoing activiites. The Center is large and attractive with staff willing to help you out. I haven't had a chance to see the film, but have spent plenty of time checking out the exhibits and artefacts, as well as read up on all the varied history of this quaint town. Whether you want to learn more about our German history, Civil War history, or all the great places to dine or shop (lots of antiques!), your best bet for a great start is here! Walking around Frederick is an adventure with plenty to see and do!
The staff is courteous and helpful, the facility is lovely, and the video elements really made it outstanding. Lots of great information and printed materials as well.
SO worth the stop! a gem in the middle of the city, pretty brand new, and just delightful. Informative, lots of brochures, beautiful inside. It will give you all the details you need to visit the area completely.
It was our first visit to Frederick, so we stopped at the Visitor Center to get our bearings. It's a beautiful facility with lots of information, some exhibits, and very friendly and helpful staff. Also, the bathrooms are clean and available. Well worth the stop.
I have lived in Frederick for over 20 years and have learned a lot at the Frederick Visitors Center. There is a great movie about Frederick and they have dozens of brochures about every conceivable place to visit. They also have souvenirs for sale. The people who work there are very helpful and friendly.
This is an excellent visitor's center. Offers a history of the area, plenty of brochures for activities, a small display of items for sale and super friendly people working behind the desk to answer questions. The facility is very clean. There is a parking lot and if it's the weekend, you can park there and walk to the center of town and/or take the self-guided walking trail. If you've never been to Frederick, this is a great starting place.
This information center does it job perfectly. Check it out first when visiting Frederick, it contains lots of interactive info about the town, is staffed by friendly knowledgable people and is located within walking distance to the downtown area, but still has lots of parking.
Very friendly and informative staff! A must stop to get to know the area. We've stopped in 3 times over the last couple years to find more detailed information, and never been disappointed.
Super helpful workers with great city maps as well as many area maps. They have clean restrooms . They will guide you towards the type of restaurant you will enjoy , they are very knowledgable!!
Our family was in town for a kid's hockey event and decided to stop by the center to see what we could pick up to plan a trip in the future. We were very surprised by how this informative clean center. The film they show is in a little theater room with plenty of comfortable seats. The film gives a great introduction to the area and gives you a solid foundation for figuring out where you want to go and which brochures you should pick up. The staff is helpful and well mannered. The center itself is like a little museum of the area with pictures with descriptions and other stuff to look at in glass cases. When you park here, you can walk around and look at some of the stuff that is nearby. The other attractions like the Civil War Medicine Museum aren't far up the road.
We recently spent the day in Frederick to go to a wedding. We stopped by the visitor center to check out how to find the murals that I had seen years ago. We were given a map and detailed directions and very helpful instructions not only to the murals but the best way to get to the wedding. Unfortunately, after the first mural, our car broke down. Scary thing when you never got around to getting AAA and you're in a strange town….. thank goodness for your phone number on the map/brochure!!!. We called and he woman working there was so very helpful. We were able to get our car towed by a reputable company and make it to the ceremony! The work on the car was done at a very reasonable price too. We have to return to Frederick (we live in PA) this weekend to pick up the car and plan to re-visit the center and continue our tour. We are looking forward to spending more time exploring your city!
Located in a restored building the Visitor Center is very nice and clean and it is situated in a very convenient location; it is not huge but it has all information about Frederick. The workers were very helpful.
