I played it first time and really enjoyed playing the course, even the weather wasn't that great (rain in the morning, hence wet the entire day with car path only during the play). The view, especially this time of the year was just magnificent. Proshop service was great. Definetely would recommend this course for all levels of golfers.
Heard about this course from hubby and friends. The course had been around for just a few years and it offers a seasoned golfer a challenge. Undulated greens, beautiful scenic views and the need for pinpoint precision golf shots will give a low handicap golfer a real treat. Mid September was colder than expected, dress in layers. Staff super friendly and love the "niceness" of the people and course. Will definitely take another try at the course. Note, they do not have a course book or GPS, yet.
My son and I tried Lodestone for the first time yesterday. It's a big, bold, beautiful course spread across a mountain top. It's long and undulating but fair. Greens are big and curvy and seemed to trick your eye. You can't see one fairway from another as you wind through the woods. Straight shots are rewarded, but a hook or slice to the woods is gone forever. Some of the vistas are truly spectacular. We will definitely play it again.
First time I ever played the course. It is a long curvy drive up the mountain and you turn off onto a gravel road to get to a manufactured type club house. I wasn't feeling too good about my choice but then I got on the golf course. If you at a golfer you will love ths course. Big undulating greens unlike most courses (I can only compare to Pete Dye Course in West Virginia and Oakmont in terms of the massive undulations. You never see another hole when you are playing. Wide fairways, great bunkers, mounded fairways everywhere, well designed course. Played gold tees about 6,600 yards. Beautiful scenic views just a great golf course worth the price to play. You won't regret it. I highly recommend this course.
Beautiful course up in the mountains....narrow fairways and well maintained greens and traps...quite scenic and the greens looked great but we're very slow :( that was a disappointment... Especially when I paid $115 for a round
I've played Lodestone 2 or 3 times and it really is tremendous. It's a big, burly golf course with big greens and plenty of fairway room and was always in great shape. I hope it keeps getting enough play to make it because it's an awesome scenic course.
Nice mountain course. Well maintained. Amazing views. Challenging but not too difficult to take the wife or less experienced golfer.
This is a majestic mountain course. Beautiful views. Challenging but not gimmicky. Course is in really good shape and the greens are fast and true. Well worth the money now that the price to play has come down.
The price finally came down to something a little more reasonable so we decided to give it a try. We were not disspointed. Some of the views are amazing, the course was in fantastic shape, and the staff was very friendly. Their are no two holes exactly the same. Spoke with the proshop and they expect the driving range to be open in the Spring of 2014. There is a bit of local knowledge on this course and they didn't have any yardage books so it was a little tricky. Also, don't let the length of the course deter you as the course really doesn't play to the number. Will go back and play it again now that I have a better idea of where to hit it and where not to hit it. Quick tip, there are plenty of places on these greens that can lead to an automatic three putt.
Wow! What a great track! Beautiful views, great conditioning, challenging layout….what is not to like?!
