This was the perfect place for a small (less than 100-people) wedding & reception. It's quiet, secluded, but has beautiful views of the water and plentiful wildlife, especially birds & waterfowl.
This was a beautiful facility! With my group of friends was renting kayaks for the day (great deal by the way), we were very pleased with how kind and helpful the Environmental Center's staff was. We also enjoyed the new, clean, and eco-friendly nature of the center itself. Additionally, we loved seeing wildlife, such as TWO bald eagles while kayaking on the water. There were also numerous options for activities in addition to kayaking (i.e. walking trails, nature center, canoe, etc.). Great for individuals, couples, families, and groups.
There was a lady willing to help us with knowledge of area. Learned a lot about walking trails. And other things to do in area. Climbed the tower to get a great view of water. Also glad you have a recycle bin out front. We stayed at local hotel for 5 days, was glad to have a bin. Would like to have a full recycle area close by. We do our part to save they bay and area. Found to much trash on beach areas
Great little environmental interpretive center. Good launch area for kayaking some of the tributaries on the eastern shore of Maryland.
This used to be called Horsehead, and we loved it. Nice visitor center. Wonderful birds and tortoises. We even saw a couple of snakes. Osprey were nesting. Great walks around the ponds. Bring hats, binoculars, and your curiosity. Much fun
This place had great trails, and ponds and lakes ideal for bird watching. It was beautiful, on the path to the lake we saw deer, rabbits, wild turkey, eagle, etc. At the lake there is a bird blind, we watched the osprey build a nest. Staff was helpful. Can't wait to go there again.
We were there off season so no one was around but we were able to walk some of the trails and it was quite pretty. I'm sure in season there would be more to do.
The Center gives a great insight on the Chesapeake BAy environs. Even a "Local" like me learned something.
I'd say that everyone should visit to support the important work that these folks are doing. However, if everyone visited, then it wouldn't be the tranquil haven of marsh side habitat that is so lovely and nice in which to sit and be still. If on Kent Island, a must stop to stop and forget the workaday world (and maybe learn something).
