I had been coming to this place about years ago but stopped when the place became so rowdy. Last Sunday July 27, 2014 my friends and I went out to celebrate my birthday.. When my friend suggested to go on dancing, I suggested Cancun Cantina and everyone was excited to go since they have not been there. Around 12:00 midnight we decided to leave the place but one of the couple stopped as they were told there was a snack inside for free. but when we were seating, the doorman named Jeremy came and told us to leave the place, we were surprised why and our male companion ask why? the doorman Jeremy said the bartender was upset because we took two glasses of water and a cup of coffee. Nobody told us that we cannot get coffee or any drinks but food. Our friend said, that was not nice of him telling us to get out when we were told that snacks was free and we are willing to pay. The doorman Jeremy continued his rudeness and keep telling us "get out!" so our friend ask to talk to the manager but the doorman pushed our male friend to get out of the place and he will get the manager. The manager named John Forsythe came and we told him the rudeness of their staff. He apologize in his behalf but damage has been done. Their staff treated us like trash people. It was embarassing and a bad experience for my friends who came their first time. We are not recommending anyone to go to Cancun Cantina . Instead go to bars in National Harbor or Georgetown in Washington DC. Clients are treated well .Cancun Cantina treated you like you are trash.
I love country music and honky tonk bars so I went here for a concert and its like a real country honky tonk bar you would see in Texas with a club feel. Very cool place to see a concert! I would not hesitate to drive from Pennsylvania to Maryland just to see a show here.
I was really excited to go out with my friends and have a good night dancing and goofing off. We decided to try the Cancun Cantina because we had seen good reviews online and it was relatively close by. We usually drive to Baltimore or Washington to go out but in an effort to save gas we ended up having an awful night. The cover charge here was a little high for what I expect from somewhere that markets themselves as a "dive" but we went in anyway and were instantly underwhelmed. The live music they had on the country western side was too slow and you could hear the club music from the other side of the bar through the connecting wall/doors and it clashed badly. No one was really dancing so we headed over to the club side. There people were dancing and we started to have hope that the night would not be a total bust after all Unfortunately the floor was watched over by bouncers who were standing on a stage at the front and spent the whole time glowering at everyone and looking like they would rather be anywhere else, it was a bit of a buzzkill. We decided to get drinks and that was another disappointment. Not only did it take the bartenders five minutes to even acknowledge us, all of our drinks were watery and expensive. I don't mind paying good money for a cocktail but it had better be a good cocktail. We decided that after that it wasn't worth staying and trying to make our cover charge worth it and left.
On Wenesdays before 10 pm ladies can get in for $6 and it's bottemless cup!! The Bartender Kelly is the best. Every time we go out cancun cantina is the place to go!!!
Cancun Cantina has Latin nights Sunday from 9:30-1:30. They also offer free dance lessons from "Dancing Dave" for FREE from 8:30-9:30. Dave has been dancing for over 20 years and is extremely talented and just an overall nice guy. I should mention patient as well. Cancun plays Salsa, Meringue, Bachata , Cumbia, Reggaeton , Hip Hop etc. on Sunday nights. The club is very spacious with a nice wooden dance floor- unlike some of the other salsa hangouts in the Baltimore/DC Area. Cancun serves food and has excellent beverages- the prices are very reasonable and the service is above par. I have never had to wait long to get a drink. The crowd is mixed and friendly (you can actually go there alone and end up with 10 friends) there is plenty of FREE parking. Get your groove on and check it out!
Stopped by for a few drinks....they had line dance lessons ...mixed crowd....they also have a back bar and outside tiki bar with a stage and dancefloor....looked pretty good. It was a Tuesday night, so not much going on,......drink prices were reasonable. I'm not much for country, so the music didn't do much for me; but other folks seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Cancun Cantina is great fun, and the food's not bad either! Whether you like Country music and dancing, or rock music, Cancun has both! They also have an outdoors section for when the warm weather arrives...
Drinks, drunks, dancing. If you been to a night club with loud music and lots of alcohol, you been to this type place.
This is a fun place for ADULTS only. There is a county side with lessons and dance floor and a rock and roll side with dancing too. During the week dance lesson are offered for free. On the weekend the place can get busy, but this is a huge facility with lots of room to move around. Early in the night it's an older crowd, and around 10PM this 20 somethings start pouring in. There are two bands every weekend, one country and on rock. No matter your age, if you get there at the right time, you'll have a good time. Get there by 7PM and there's no cover! They have tasty sandwiches and good drinks which rounds a very fun evening, especially if you like to dance!
