Came upon the vineyard while visiting another more well known winery in the area and was pleasantly surprised. This winery is small and friendly. Visit on a Saturday afternoon, which is when they have a food truck for lunch fare and small music groups playing in the tasting room. It creates a festive atmosphere to sample wine. And the wines are definitely worth sampling. Great price points and a nice variety of wines--none from the estate, yet, but worth the time to enjoy. Friendly and knowledgeable people were staffing the tasting area. As an added benefit, they were bottling in the building next door and allowed great access to the completely manual operation. This is wine at its basic level and that makes it all the better. If you enjoy wine tasting and are looking for a hidden gem--visit DeJon.

Unfriendly, uninformative, and indifferent people there. In the summer it is close to the manure that it is unbearable to taste the wine. I will never go back.

Had a nice visit for a wine tasting. There was a musical group playing when we got there. It was later in the day so it didn't pay to stay and listen. Had we known we would have gone earlier in the day. Will just have to go back for another event.

My wife and I stopped by while visiting Baltimore. The winery is about 25 minutes from Fell's Point, where we were staying. We arrived as they opened and were the only people there, with the owner. He was very kind and personable. The wine was good and we bought several bottles after our tasting.

Attended a tasting here over the weekend. The place was crowded and very unorganized. We were supposed to have a wine/chocolate pairing (maybe 8 different wines). We were seated at a long, cramped, uncomfortable table and given absolutely no attention from the owner. We would have to walk across the room to retrieve him for each wine. It was not like he was busy - he was parked in a folding chair doing nothing every single time. He would bring over each succession of wine, gruffly mumble something about it, and then give us the bottle to pour for ourselves. However, he got snarky because the pours were too long. My friend commented that she felt we received horrible service, and he looked her straight in the eye and said "Yep." This guy is a jerk. The wines are not very good. We had been to several other wineries that day and spent several hundred dollars in total at the other places. This place did not get a dime. Nor do they deserve one. Visit at your own risk.

We did a tasting with the owner and it was ok for a newly started winery. Of course the wine selection is limited at this time in its history, but most of the wines were fair, not much really stood out. It is even more difficult when just around the corner you have a well accomplished winery-Boordy-with many award winning wines and a huge selection. DeJon is off to a good start and not overextending itself, they are trying to make a quality product and a place for themselves in the MD wine industry. Their products and events have room for improvement, but I would not rule them out.

We attended Ladies Night here this past Friday. I have been to Dejon several times, even once hosting my husband's birthday party there a few years ago. This was the first advertised event that I attended. I called about 2 weeks ahead of time and made a reservation for 4 of us. The event was from 6-9. We got there about 6:15 and the tables were packed. The owner Jon, was collecting money at the door. He did not ask if we had a reservation but there were not enough seats in the place for us to sit down. Finally after about 20 minutes of standing and them telling us they were "working on it", they sat us at a table facing the wall. We were just happy to have a seat at that point. For the $10 at the door, I'm not really sure what we got other than listening to the live music. When we got to the tasting table, they wanted another $5 for a tasting and they charged for the food which basically consisted of mac and cheese and slimy bbq chicken...

i went to Dejon vineyard on a Friday night. they had an EXCELLENT band called love story who are husband and wife. everyone was up on their feet dancing. the wine was outstanding. i couldn't pick a favorite. i ended up buying a bottle of their festivus and Vidal blanc. the tasting room is so pretty and rustic. i can definitely tell it used to be a barn. i plan on coming back on a Wednesday for their Wine Up Wednesday. its money well spent.

The winery is only 3 years old, so the wine selection was limited. However, of the wine that was offered it was decent. The reds weren't what we were expecting, but thoroughly enjoyed two whites in particular. Their Sweet Denise and Vidal Blanc were great. They have a simple barn setup with a tasting area and a number of tables available to drink wine and snack on cheese and crackers. Will likely return.

I paid $30 for a plate of macaroni and cheese. They ran out of chicken right before we got to the serving station. The wait to get food was worth the twenty minutes since i am a half-wit that needs the staff to work a serving spoon because I am not able...The fact that the apathetic staff has the nerve to charge for wine on top of this prison meal is completely beyond me. Plus the fact that a real vinyard is about a mile away.If anyone has the idea of attending in 2014 do yourself a favor and just flush your cash down the toilet then bash your head into the wall. You will save time and feel the same after.

This place is too new so their wines are not mature enough. When my husband and I were at DeJon there was no one else. We did the wine tasting but didn't like the wine but the owner did not charge us so we felt obligated to buy a glass anyway. I think there were maybe 5 wines to choose from. Go to Boordy down the street and check back in a few years.

My wife and another couple visited this vineyard due to a Google Offers deal we received ($10 for four tastings and souvenir glasses). We brought our own food from the city and ate on the patio before we began the tasting. The scenery was beautiful! There's nothing like expansive, pristine countryside on a sunny day. However, one strange thing we noticed from the onset was how pitiful the grape harvest looked; compared to Boordy's grapes, these plants were withered and puny.The tasting is held in a neat, restored barn on the property. That is about all you see on the property unless you ask to see the rest of the operations....which I cannot imagine amount to much. The decor was cutesy, but that had a lot to do with the party that was being held on the premises that afternoon.For $10, we were able to sample 5 wines. We began with a Vidal Blanc, moved to what they labeled a "Sweet Denise" (a sweeter Vidal Blanc), continued with a Merlot and a sweeter version of the Merlot called the Festivus, and ended with a Cab Sav. The only wine worth buying was the Festivus, and that was mainly because it gives me an excuse to celebrate the Seinfeld-inspired holiday. The Merlot was gross--way too peppery, and the other wines lacked any particular character. The tasting was carried out way too quickly; the young gentleman helping us seemed eager to move on to another group and explained nothing but the names and make-ups of the wines. Plus, the pourer wasn't working, so we received very little with each pour. No rinsings. No crackers. When the last wine had been poured, the gentleman moved on to the next interested group and did not bother to sell us anything.The "icing" on the "cake" was when the pourer told us that most of the grapes come from other vineyards. In fact, no one in our group could remember a wine that actually featured grapes from this winery.With Boordy so close by, we should have stopped there instead of this place...

Don't waste your time visiting a vineyard were the owners are rude. From a phone call were someone answerd the phone by saying yeah--to being requested to leave because you question how the owner talked to your friend. Food was not worth the $30 per person price. And here the best part, one of the owner told a customer to change the trash bag because it was over flowing! Whats next they are going to tell the customer they have to pick the grapes for wine they charge $15 a bottle for.

My husband and I visited this winery on a Saturday after visiting Boordy. We paid to do the tasting and got yet another free souvenir glass. The gentleman conducting the tasting was pretty good. We tasted the Merlot and the Cab and bought a bottle of each. It wasn't a cheap experience. When we opened the Merlot a few hours later, it was terrible!! We were at a party with several other family members who all felt that the wine was vinegary. It definitely was not the same wine we tasted. A few days later, my husband opened the Cab and had the same results! After one half glass, the rest went down the drain. My parents and my brother and his wife had the same results with the Merlot several months back. I don't know what is going on but beware, what you taste is NOT what you are taking home!

We visited DeJon Vineyards for their Happy Hour wine tasting event held on a Friday night. We were charged $10 each to enter, as advertised. We went to the bar to do the tasting and were told is was another $4 each to taste 5 of their wines. We received a very small, measured pour of each of the wines. The wines, with the exception of one, we're awful. The merlot was watery, one was sweet, and 2 had an off odor. The only wine that was drinkable, unless you like sweet wine, was the $25 Cabernet, which was just okay. We should have known when we pulled into the parking lot and saw only a few cars.We decided to buy the wine, since we drove 30 minutes to get here and had already invested $28, and they had music (joe martone). They also had food, sandwiches, cheese, meatballs.All told, we spent $55.50 to drink a mediocre bottle of wine.The venue is sparsely decorated and has very little ambiance. It is a large modern barn with a few wine barrel tables and chairs and a tasting bar of a few wine barrels with some boards on top. There is a small wood burning stove.They did have a 2 person band, which was nice and some store bought sandwiches, cheese, and meatballs.My advice.....skip this place.
