This is a nice way to go from Oxford, Maryland to St. Michael's. It is a short ferry ride across the water and is fun for children.
It is a great way to go from the Sandaway to St. Michaels. You can bring your car with you. The gentleman who ran the ferry was a pleasure and was able to provide a lot of local tips about the area which we used to our advantage. It was a joy to take the ferry.
The trip from Oxford to Bellevue does not take long, but it is very enjoyable on a nice day. I thought it was interesting and cool that the captain, crew and owner are female. Loved the ride!
It's amazing to think this may be the oldest ferry in America still in operation, particularly since it's so convenient and efficient. The wait time (if any) is short and the trip also. We took our car and dog on board and we only wished the ride to be longer. We needed to get from St. Michael's to Oxford and this was definitely the fastest and most fun way to get there. Just be aware that they now charge $13 for one way trip, even though their signs have yet to be updated.
A nice little trip across the Trent Avon River. There is nothing to dislike. The ride lasted about 15 minutes and the weather was beautiful.
Started to take the Ferry back from St Michael to Oxford....$$$ didn't justify....In the time I would have waited and the trip across....I drove it in about the same time.In defense of the Ferry service, I know it's costly to take the boat back and forth and sometimes have no car...so I can understand the ticket price based on that. Just not for me :)
Saves a lot of driving between Oxford and St. Michaels MD.Beautiful on a sunny day. Some interesting conversation with ferry captain and also with other riders. A little steep in price but fun.
Got sidetracked going to St Michaels and had to take this ferry to get back on track. It was a great little diversion and an unexpected guilty pleasure for me.
OK, you can get between St. Michael's and Oxford or Easton, MD by car (longer distance), but it's definitely worth a trip on the ferry between Oxford and Bellevue for the experience and fun. Cost is reasonable (we took our bikes - $4 one way, $7 R/T) and the roads to and from the ferry are quite pretty - especially if you're biking.
This isn't an attraction, just a small alternative waterway crossing. The boat's small and there is nothing significant to see on the crossing
We biked from St. Michaels to Oxford and this was a great way to get there. The trip wasn't too long and the ferry ride was delightful. It gave you a chance to rest a minute before starting the next tour. The ferry staff were very friendly and professional. Just wish the ferry ride had been longer because it was fun.
A lovely relaxing short trip across the river. The staff were helpful in giving suggestions on what to do in St. Michaels.
Did a trial run prior to two family visits our way. We/they enjoyed the experience, and any time you end up in Oxford or near St. Michaels, things are trending positive!
Great little trip for us history buffs on the oldest (1683) privately run ferry in US. Timely connections and an all-girl crew made this a fun little experience!
Visited on a lovely day. Stopped for ice cream at the Scottish ice creamery first then took the ferry. Max of 9 cars, cost $12 for the car and driver and $1 for additional passenger, walkers and bikers pay reduced rates. Pretty scenery on the ride, not much in Bellevue; 7 miles to drive to St Michaels.
