A nice, educational, well-designed brief treatment of the history and ecology of the southern end of the Eastern Shore, even if one of the Native American displays appears to be of an Indian from the Plains. Audio tour included. Pleasant, helpful staff. Special programs for the kids. You'd never think you were in a town of 4100 people. And there is a wonderful restaurant on the river right next door.

This museum is a delight! The building has history too! Located at #2 Market Street in Pocomoke City this Museum offers something for children and adults. Well worth the trip off Rt. 50 to visit. Indian display, dugout canoe, duck carvings, replica steamship, NASA WALLOP'S ISLAND DISPLAY and videos - Well Done!

We stopped at the Delmarva Discovery Center in Pocomoke City on the way home to Philadelphia from Chincoteague Island. This small facility offers a variety of different exhibits to guests ranging from a small aquarium tank to a NASA play center to an exhibit on Native Americans. For two adults, this wouldn't have been worth the price, as you can easily walk through everything in 30 minutes or less. However, for our 7-year niece, she found it to be quite a fun time. They offer scavenger hunts to keep the kids busy and interactive exhibits for children to touch and feel to learn hand on. Our niece definitely had a good time there.

Small for what you pay, but a great stop for the kids for an hour. They liked the beaver lodge and the touch tank. We'll go again!

The Delmarva Discovery Center is a very modern sort of museum with a great blend of local history, lore, & science. This museum is only feet from the old shipbuilding businesses which were on the waterfront in Pocomoke City from about 1890 - 1920. Step into a ship built right into one room, and be awed by the tall aquarium that contains local fish!Summers find the museum busy with activities for youth, while during the school year there are bus loads of kids enjoying some hands-on education, not possible in the classroom.The museum is well managed and proudly supported by the Pocomoke community.

Nice little museum with lots of interactive stuff for little kids, but plenty of interesting information for adults as well.

We were on Chincoteague Island and decided to take a quick drive to check this place out. Unfortunately, it took longer to get off the Island than anticipated due to the Pony Auction, and by the time we got to the Discovery Center, they had just closed. The kids were so disappointed! Luckily, Maggie (I believe this was her name and who had informed us they were closed) said that it takes about an hour for them to close for the day and we were welcome to walk through the center for that hour. We had the place to ourselves and the kids had a ball. Their experience was made even better when someone else brought out the corn snake from the Animal Experience. Thank you Delmarva Discovery Center for being so thoughtful and allowing us the opportunity to tour the center. The kids still talk about the exhibits and want to come back next year when the snapping turtle is in his new home.

This is a cute little space with some well designed exhibits and displays. The place is small. If you've been to other children's museums or Science Centers you may be a bit let down. Or the day we visited the touch tank was out of service. That seems to be a major attraction whose closure should have been mentioned up front. Also their entire collection of turtles and snakes on display were away from the museum doing a program in the community. One staff member was nice enough to bring out a snake and turtle from the back for my kids to touch. The personal service made up for the absence of wildlife on the exhibit floor. Some of the exhibit pieces could have used a more interactive element. The adult price of $10 seems a bit high. You may want to call ahead and make sure the touch tank is open.

Our 3 little grandsons were visiting from Florida and we were constantly spoon-feeding our culture and heritage upon them. A trip to the Discovery Center proved to be a big hit. The exhibits were well planned, informative and engaging. Even the 2 year old LOVED listening to the hand-held audio tour! The 6 yr old really enjoyed building his own launch pad in the NASA Wallops display. My 20% military discount (off total bill) also made it quite reasonable. It is now a week later and the boys are still talking about it. My wife and I have vowed to return alone so we can take the time needed to read and listen to each display.

My husband and I were recently in Pocomoke City by boat, and decided to visit the Discovery Museum, located just a few steps up from the Pocomoke River. What a treat! It is housed in what was originally a car dealership, and they have somehow crammed into it an amazing amount of well thought out information and interesting exhibits relating to all aspect of the Delmarva Peninsula, from natural flora and fauna to the history of the Native American peoples and colonists who came to settle here, and the life on and around the Pocomoke River and the watermen and others who have lived in this diverse area. It even includes an exhibit about nearby Wallops Island, up to and including the recently launched moon rocket. The modest admission includes an audio tour supplied by a hand held device with recorded messages accessed by matching the number on many of the displays. Highly recommended!

Took grandkids to Planetarium exhibit. We live nearby and go whenever they have a kid event. Very nice attraction for kids. Kids like the touch tank. Reptiles Alive is a great learning experience so we always go when that is scheduled at the Discovery Center. Very nice gift shop.

First time visitor. The exhibits were well designed and a good representation of the eastern shore. I enjoyed the aquarium the most. I learned of a couple of types of snakes and mammals I did not know existed. The gift shop has some unique pieces.

Although modest in size, the Discovery Center provides a good introduction to the human and natural history of this land of marshes, streams, and bays. The native Lenapes, the early European settlers, the watermen, the oystermen, the fishermen, and their various watercrafts are featured--ranging from a dugout canoe, to skipjacks, to small steamships that plied the Chesapeake. A good place to have a couple of interesting hours.

We stumbled across the Delmarva Discovery Center when we were touring the downtown area of Pocomoke. My family used to visit our grandparents in Pocomoke each year but we hadn't been down in years. We decided to visit the musuem to allow my duaghter the opportunity to connect with the area as well. We were wonderfully surprised by the excellent exhibits and the wealth of information that they contained. I will definately come back again to visit some of the external exhibits that weren't open on Monday. This was a very special treat that you should not miss when in the area.

We had a nice time meeting Bernard the racer snake and completing a snake craft. We liked the steamboat display and learning about the oyster industry. My daughter loved the big gopher dam and climbing inside. The sailboat with wind at the end was neat too.
