levon helm's the barn

First I must point out that Levon Helm Studios the "Barn" is located in Woodstock, NY. not Maryland if trip advisor can read this please change location.We spent New Years Eve 2014/15 at the barn and what a perfect choice that was! We have attended a few shows here in the past but this is the first since Levon left us. We live about an hour and a half away and always enjoy spending time in the town. Amy Helm(Levon's daughter) and her band The Handsome Strangers were performing with special guest Cassandra Wilson. To say the show was anything less than stellar would be an understatement. The barn is a great venue and a timeless tradition of Saturday night rambles. Shows still continue but at a little slower pace without Levon but what goes on there is just sweet great people getting together to play and listen to music in an outstanding, quality, intimate venue. If you ever want to spent a few days in the beautiful Catskill region and Woodstock area, check for upcoming shows at the Barn to give you an excuse for a cool getaway.

Levon Helm's studio, called The Barn, is actually in his beautiful barn. They host live performances called The Midnight Ramble. If you like his music, you'll fall in love with this place. It's an intimate setting, so seats are limited. You buy tickets on line. All seats are good. I sat in 3rd row center and listened to some of the best musicians out there, along with Levon Helm's daughter performing. Since Levon, who was in The Band, passed away in 2012, they have carried on with his tradition of Saturday night concerts. Proceeds go toward keeping this venue alive, a good cause for continuing his music legacy.
