grand marché (central market)

I go to this market quite often, I like the atmosphere and very often manage to buy at very low prices, although I never go alone as it's very hectic and I don't feel secure. The advantage of going with a local is that they will note charge you the usual "expat price", plus a lot of the sellers do not speak a word of French.You should definitely visit the Grand Marché, but I would suggest with a local and pay extra attention. Have fun!

The people are wonderful, the items available are always changing, the quality varies wildly, so know what you want, do your research, be flexible, have fun. Really important point, bargain, but be generous. If you are a traveler, you are RICH, most of the sellers are not! They are just making it. So, be fare, in their favorer, but enjoy the experience. Its the relationships that are important here. The objects bought will be eaten, used, abused and forgotten, but the relationships forged, will last a lifetime. By all means go! but be careful, not everyone is looking out for your well being, keep an eye on your surroundings, its always best to go with someone who has been before. Better yet, go with a local who knows the area. You'll unquestionably get a better deal. But, remember to be generous, its very important.

Praticamente credo che sia l'unica cosa da vedere in N'Djamena. Ci sono stato accompagnato dai locali, anche perché girare da solo li non è molto consigliato anche se apparentemente è tutto abbastanza tranquillo. Il Market è composto da una serie di tendoni ammassati dove si vende un po' di tutto(roba locale ovviamente) e secondo me se cercate qualcosa fatto a mano originale è il posto giusto...unica cosa è che ovviamente cercano di fregarvi in tutti i modi sapendo che siete forestieri, quindi dividete per cinque il prezzo che vi dicono e pagherete l'oggetto che volete una cifra onesta per il luogo.

Une expérience intéressante quand vous cherchez le dépaysement. Mais les marché en Afrique sont les même dans la mesure où les commerçant vous présentent tous leur produits dans l'espoir que vous allez acheter. Mais allez toujours avec un natif afin de ne pas faire d'erreur.

Il Gran marchè è sicuramente un'interessante attrazione,ma da visitare con le dovute precauzioni,normalmente sconsigliato dalle informative delle ambasciate,per una visita è consigliabile essere accompagnati da personale ciadiano ed evitare accuratamente di essere in gruppo,cosa che inevitabilmente finisce per attirare troppo l'attenzione
