What an amazing trip. Accommodation excellent. Raymond, Saul and Armando made the trip. Armando cooked up delicious meals. Raymond and Saul were excellent guides who took no chances. Their knowledge of birds and identification of calls was extremely good. We learnt about and saw many animals and birds at very "close quarters!" They geared the walks according to the ability of the group and were always happy to answer any questions. In the late afternoon we were taken to stunning places which were off the beaten track, for sundowners. Cant wait to go back again and repeat the experience on a different trail. It has certainly taken game viewing to a whole new level!
Highly recommend the Napi Wilderness Trail. Raymond (the ranger), Saul (the tracker) and Armando (the cook) were all incredible. We had several close up encounters with animals, including white rhinos, on our morning walks. At the end of our morning walk the first day, Saul spotted a large herd of buffalo on a ridge in the distance and we extended the walk to see them – quite a treat. The en suite tented accommodation was great and had lovely views over the river. We didn’t have any evening walks, just game drives, but trekked so far on our morning walks that the break was nice. My husband and me did the Napi trail in April. We loved the camp and its environnemt. The tents are very comfortable and have an en suite. Armando was an excellent cook. The food was delicious! We only did one walk in the morning (22 and 17 km). When I asked the guide why we didn't do two walks as was decribed on the website, he was very vague. In stead he took us for a drive from half past four until seven. This drive included a sundowner. It was beautiful, although I would have preferred to walk instead. The walks were very exciting and we were very close to buffalo, wildebeest, white rhino and even lion. The guides however were NOT communicative at all. The didn't tell us anything on the walk unless we asked a question and even then...we had many many walks and drives before and we know how a guide should behave. This was such a pity. Luckily the lovely people in the group, the cook Armando, the walks into the wild, the encounters with the animals and de wonderful environment made this a trail never to forget. Looking forward to do more!
We went as a family in December, a total of 6 people, to "do" the Napi trail. This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, with helpful and knowledgeable rangers, and good food provided. The walks were tough (it was extremely hot and humid), but the animal sightings were unforgettable. One of our evening walks was abruptly halted when we came into contact with a lion pride, which we then proceeded to enjoy watching for the rest of the evening, the other by rain (so we went on a game drive instead, and were amazed by the number of animals out and about). This is the only trail in Kruger currently where each tent has it's own ablution facilities, which are extremely luxurious by camping standards! The only negative experience was that there is nowhere to secure valuables, and we were victims of theft while there. We would recommend that others doing the trail find a way of securing special items, or leaving them behind.
Super!
